Dunes line the night sky in mountains
Black like the nightfall
And the stars shine at the setting of an Arabic moon
With warm sandy winds polishing my skin
As the sun sets in the darkest corners in my mind
Into the darkness
that's where I find him
Emerging from the verdant blossoms of the oasis
His beauty like a drink of water to my parched soul
A celestial gift to all men alike
bathing in a lake of youth floating down into the crests of waters of Metsopotamia
The winds sing an ancient lullaby
Singing the haunting sounds
Chanting from the origins of time
Bitterly does appeal to me
Igniting a fire within my blood
Causing me to burn inside hosting an uncontrollable longing
I know no longer what is good for me
As he sinks deep inside the haven of my soul
He is like the swallow
Sinking deep within the heart of me
Enchanting me with ointments of patchuli and opium
laying me under his spell
Dark is his hair as it hangs above me
Twisted dancing over my body in shadows
Like rain clouds his sweat falls over me
Bathing me on the banks of Euphrates
Where there are more stars in the sky than grains of sand
His waters wash over me
Rising like footsteps in the bed of the river
Over the crests of the skyline
Of mosques and pyramids and vacant midnight markets
Into the bliss of night and the scents of another world
Emerging into the silver light of the moon above
He covers me with his love
Black like the nightfall
And the stars shine at the setting of an Arabic moon
With warm sandy winds polishing my skin
As the sun sets in the darkest corners in my mind
Into the darkness
that's where I find him
Emerging from the verdant blossoms of the oasis
His beauty like a drink of water to my parched soul
A celestial gift to all men alike

I always enjoy reading your poetry. You have the ability to transport yourself (and the reader) to another time and place. The imagery is as lush and beautiful in this poem as it is in many others you have written. Nicely done…
